This is the starting point for any project we become involved with in our scanning bureau. Our 3D scanning service allows the creation of 3D data from the physical object. Applications include digital modelling, reverse engineering and product inspection & analysis.

We have many years experience in using 3D scanners and have access to a wide range of scanning systems enabling us to use the most appropriate system for our customer requirements. We are able to provide a flexible and cost efficient service, please contact us to discuss the options available.

We will usually require images of your object to establish a quote, but in some cases, we may also need the actual part to provide an accurate price for your project. Each of the following criteria may also affect the final price quoted:

Physical characteristics - size, material, shape, etc.
Location - in-house or off-site.
Time to delivery - urgent or standard.

	Non-contact Scanning This method is predominantly used for parts which are flexible, although also dependent on the material and shape of the part. The scanner collects approximately 23,000 points per second making this much faster than traditional methods.
	CGI Scanning CGI Scanning or ‘Capture Geometry Internally’ is a system ideally used for small plastic components where both internal and external dimensions are required for either reverse engineering or inspection. The process involves setting the component in resin, which provides support as thin slices are machined away. After each cut a digital camera captures profile data and the system software automatically compiles all the images to give complete dimensional information including all corners, edges, angles, voids and undercuts. 3D Scanners (UK) is the only CGI facility in the UK.
	CT Scanning CT Scanning or Computed Tomography is a non-destructive system ideal for small transparent parts where again, both internal and external dimensions are required. A CT scan generates three dimensional images from a large series of 2 dimensional xray images taken around a single axis of rotation. The data is reformatted as volumetric representations of structures, which could be used for either reverse engineering or inspection purposes.
